As an End of Life Doula I provide a holistic and caring service dedicated to providing comfort
and dignity for those facing the end-of-life. As a compassionate doula I can provide practical,
emotional and, if desired, spiritual support to assist you during the journey towards the last
chapter of life.

We all live life in our own unique and individual way and I believe we should face our dying with our personal preferences
and character leading the way. I adapt my care to meet your needs and support you to plan the ending that's right for you
and your loved ones.

It can be an extremely challenging time, and having your own personal support and a caring advocate can help. I can assist
you with practical matters and planning, while also supporting you to get the right type of care and medical support. This gives you more time and space to spend on the parts of your life that mean the most to you.

Compassionate Care & Life Celebration
Sarah Goodman End Of Life Doula
An end-of-life doula provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to people who are coming to the end of their lives, including those who have dementia. Working with the person, their family and health and social care professionals, a doula helps the person complete their life in a way that brings peace and contentment.
Doulas work in the person’s home as well as hospices, hospitals and care homes. They offer support at any age or stage of illness and are non-medical individuals, who's role is to preserve the quality of wellbeing, sense of identity and self-worth from the moment we are called upon. The person and those important to them are at the very centre of a doula's work.

An end of life doula is a cconsistent and compassionate presence with knowledge, experience and understanding. This supports those that we are alongside to exercise choice about where and how they are cared for.
The aim is to facilitate an end of life that it is as peaceful, meaningful and dignified as it can be. A doula's support can begin when a person has received the news they have a life limiting illness, or during a person’s final months and weeks. Support often is also extended to loved ones after the person's death with the bereavement and funeral arranging.

Another important aspect of our role is to be available to people at any stage in their lives to share our knowledge and provide guidance on death and dying. Our aim is to bring dying ‘home’ in our communities as we believe it is all of our business and not the sole preserve of experts and professionals. We work in our communities in many ways, including providing information and guidance around Advance Planning, funeral arrangements, bereavement and grief support, and assisting people to navigate health, social care and government agencies.
